AGD is working to address the most pressing issues faced by our members as we advocate to government entities for general dentists.

The 2024 Current Dental Terminology (CDT) Code includes a new implant code, D6089, Accessing and retorquing loose implant screw — per screw. This code was proposed and submitted by AGD’s Dental Practice Council in 2022.

Dentists today face the challenge of competing with an influx of DIY dental misinformation, often labeled as “dental life hacks,” circulating on social media platforms. They should be armed with knowledge of these hacks and ready to discuss potential benefits or dangers with curious patients.

The AGD Advocacy Fund supports national and constituent advocacy efforts by providing resources to tackle new matters, such as legislation or legal action affecting the practice of general dentistry.

On December 11, 2023, the House of Representatives passed the Lower Costs, More Transparency Act, H.R. 5378.

This week, the House and Senate both took major steps towards reauthorizing the Substance Use-Disorder Prevention that Promotes Opioid Recovery and Treatment (SUPPORT) for Patients and Communities Act, which was originally enacted in 2018 to comprehensively address to the opioid epidemic.
