Recently, AGD opened dialogue with a senior representative of Delta Dental Plans Association in order to address issues affecting general dentists, the public and the practice of general dentistry.

The potential applications of robotics in dentistry are myriad. Human-operated robotics are already blazing new paths in implant surgery. Microrobots show promise in endodontics. As part of April as Oral Cancer Awareness Month, this issue of AGD Impact features an update from the AGD Foundation on its mission to promote oral cancer awareness. It also includes the latest in oral cancer research from around the world.

Take advantage of the two-day Fellowship Review Course at AGD2023, July 19–20! This course provides a refresher in 17 dental disciplines, and attendees may take the Fellowship Exam the following day. Registrants will also receive an electronic Fellowship Exam Study Guide and a link to downloadable course handouts.

In tomorrow’s free live webinar, “Increasing the Proportion of Oral and Oropharyngeal Cancers Detected at the Earliest Stage,” attendees will learn the critical role of the dental healthcare team in oral cancer screening and be able to identify the critical components for performing a comprehensive visual and tactile exam.

All U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration-registered prescribers (Schedule II, III, IV and/or V) must comply with the new Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act, which was included in the omnibus spending bill passed by Congress on Dec. 29, 2022. It requires dentists to complete eight hours of safe prescribing training before renewing or receiving a DEA registration, effective June 27, 2023.
