What strategy should dentists employ when selecting CE? How much weight should they give to provider, company, cost and format? With this in mind, AGD Impact asked five dentists about their views on the best way to select CE for various learning needs.

AGD announced the passing of its longtime editor Roger Winland, DDS, MS, MAGD, who died Saturday, Aug. 13. Winland, a general dentist from Athens, Ohio, had been AGD editor for 24 years and, before that, served as editor of the Ohio AGD newsletter, The Family Dentist, for 12 years. He retired from his role as AGD editor in 2020.

With an interest in dentistry that first sparked during childhood, Arlene O’Brien, DMD, FAGD, now serves the profession through her roles as president of the New Jersey AGD and as a member of the national AGD’s Dental Practice Council. Dental care during pregnancy is out of reach for many because of barriers to access, which include patients’ misconceptions or dentists’ feelings of incompetence to provide specialized care. To assess these barriers, a survey of Alabama AGD members was conducted.
