AGD has been invited to review and formally support the Standards for Leadership in Oral Health Care, an initiative developed by the American College of Dentists to establish a framework for leadership across the oral health profession.

AGD has named Dr. Jeffrey P. Okeson as the 2026 recipient of the Dr. Thaddeus V. Weclew Award, the organization’s highest honor recognizing excellence in dental education. Adenomatoid odontogenic tumor is an asymptomatic benign tumor typically observed as a well-circumscribed, teardrop-shaped radiolucency containing an embedded tooth. While the lesion most commonly affects maxillary canines in younger females, the May/June issue of General Dentistry reports two atypical cases associated with impacted premolars.

AGD recently signed a letter with 17 other members of the Organized Dental Coalition (ODC) to support S. 4008, the Promoting Dental Health Act. The bill reauthorizes the U.S. Centers for Disease Control Oral Health programs through fiscal year 2031 and strengthens oral health infrastructure nationwide while supporting the vital role of general dentists in improve overall health outcomes.
