Mobile dentistry is the practice of acquiring a van or trailer with permanently installed dental equipment and then driving it to specific locations to deliver care. AGD’s Dental Practice Council has submitted a request to the American Dental Association’s Code Maintenance Committee for a new code to be added to the Code on Dental Procedures and Nomenclature (CDT Code).

AGD is seeking nominations for the 2023 Albert L. Borish, Distinguished Service and Humanitarian awards, all of which recognize exceptional achievements and contributions to the dental profession. Nominations are due March 1, 2023.

AGD is committed to helping general dentists find first-rate CE. The organization began Program Approval for Continuing Education (PACE) in 1988 to help members identify quality education. With nearly 1,700 approved providers today, AGD has the most comprehensive list of quality CE providers available to general dentists.

Being married while in dental school definitely has its benefits, and, since my wife is reading this, I will not say disadvantages — merely challenges. Many try to avoid committing until after graduating, but, for me, tying the knot while in school was one of the greatest decisions of my life.

Epidemiologic studies have demonstrated an association between obesity and worsening periodontal symptoms, such as gingival inflammation and diagnosis of periodontitis. A retrospective analysis in General Dentistry looks at the associations of periodontal disease parameters with body mass index in patients undergoing periodontal maintenance therapy.

As December comes to a close, so does the AGD Foundation's Annual Appeal. Help it reach its goal of raising $250,000. These funds will be used to provide free oral/oropharyngeal screenings, develop resources for dentists and patients, and distribute oral cancer-focused grants.

In 1973, AGD created a newsletter to inform members about the socioeconomic and political advances in dentistry, a newsletter that would eventually become AGD Impact. Fifty years later, much has changed about the publication, but its core mission to focus on the needs of AGD members and general dentists remains. Join us in celebrating AGD Impact’s golden anniversary by looking back at the publication’s history.

AGD Fellows and Masters are encouraged to submit abstracts for 10-15 minute case study presentations , and all members are encouraged to submit abstracts for series of 50-minute symposium-style lectures. The submission deadline is Jan. 27 at 5:00 pm CST.
