AGD Impact’s annual “10 Dentists to Watch” list is live! We are proud to share the stories of 10 dentists at the start of their careers who represent the newest generation of exemplary oral healthcare providers.

AGD is seeking nominations for the 2024 Albert L. Borish, Distinguished Service and Humanitarian awards, all of which recognize exceptional achievements and contributions to the dental profession. Nominations are due March 15, 2024.

They’ve practiced less than a decade but have already made a lasting impact. This year’s group of accomplished young dentists have worn many hats. Neuroscience researcher, college baseball player, LGBTQ advocate and United States Army Reserve Captain, to name a few.

General dentists in the United States, especially if their practice is incorporated as an LLC or professional corporation, should be aware of a new regulation that goes into effect January 2024 that requires business entities to provide disclosures related to their ownership.

On Nov. 12, 2023, Merlin P. Ohmer, DDS, MAGD, took the reins of the AGD presidency during the annual meeting of its House of Delegates. On November 29, 2023, the House Committee on Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee held a hearing entitled, Understanding How AI is Changing Health Care. Witnesses included representatives from hospitals, health care companies, and medical schools.

On November 28, 2023, Senator Dick Durbin sent a letter to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) urging the Administrator to notify states about the recent Medicare changes to oral health care services that were included in the 2024 Medicare Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) and Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) Payment System final rule.
