To continue our mission of molding and preparing leaders, this year’s complimentary 2019 AGD Leadership Development Symposium is planned for April 12–13 at the Holiday Inn Chicago-Mart Plaza River North in Chicago.

In order to be successful in your career, you ultimately must build up a network of advisors who can help guide you through the challenges of professional life. But advisory relationships are two-way streets.

This year, as we celebrate U.S. presidents, AGD gives special recognition to President Truman for his contributions to improving the oral health of the public.

AGD recently submitted comments to the U.S. Surgeon General regarding the anticipated 2020 Surgeon General’s Report on oral health, pledging support for efforts to revisit oral health in the U.S. and proposing areas of content for inclusion in the report.

Many people associate vulnerability with weakness. What they don’t realize is the ability to demonstrate vulnerability is an effective leadership strategy.

Did you know that oral cancer is the sixth deadliest cancer in the United States? 51,540 people have been diagnosed with oral cancer in the U.S. 70 percent of oral cancers are found in the late stages, and, over the last nine years, the incidence of oral cancer has been on the rise.

Where did the year go? With the start of the new year, now is the perfect time to take stock of 2018’s accomplishments and challenges, to look back over the year and assess what worked, what didn’t work, and what we could have done differently.

The AGD Strategic and Tactical Assessment and Response (STAR) program provides constituencies with a team of trained facilitators and staff to assist with brainstorming, strategic planning and goal setting.

The Action for Dental Health Act received a final stamp of approval this week as President Donald J. Trump officially signed the bill into law.

The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) applauds Congress for passing the Action for Dental Health Act aimed to remove barriers to access oral healthcare. The bipartisan bill is expected to be signed into law by President Trump.

AGD’s 2019 Leadership Development Symposium is scheduled for April 12-13, 2019, at the Holiday Inn Chicago-Mart Plaza River North hotel in Chicago. The symposium will feature AGD-experienced member-leaders who will share their leadership resources.
