U.S. House Hearing on Medicare Advantage
On July 22, 2025, the U.S. House Committee on Ways & Means, Health and Oversight Subcommittees held a joint hearing entitled, Medicare Advantage: Past Lessons, Present Insights, Future Opportunities. The hearing covered the challenges and opportunities presented by the rapid enrollment growth of the Medicare Advantage (MA) program and targeted improvements to ensure MA delivers quality outcomes for beneficiaries and value for taxpayers.
A recording of the hearing can be found here.
Impact on General Dentistry: MA covers approximately 54% of Medicare beneficiaries as of 2024, reflecting its rapid growth and increasing influence on patient care delivery. The number of MA plans also offering dental coverage to enrolled beneficiaries remains very high. The AGD supports efforts to streamline access to care, reduce delays, and improve dental and health outcomes while monitoring and engaging Congress on the power of MA plans as they create dental networks to negotiate fairly with dentists.
