Dentistry Coalition Support Legislation to Incentivize Hiring of Service Members
AGD joined Organized Dentistry Coalition (ODC) members in sending letters to the House and Senate sponsors of S.1178/H.R.1854, the Reserve Employers Comprehensive Relief and Uniform Incentives on Taxes (RECRUIT Act). The ADA led the effort, and the bill’s sponsors are Reps. Tim Ryan (D-OH) and Steven Palazzo (R-MS) in the House and Sens. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and Jerry Moran (R-KS) in the Senate.
The RECRUIT Act would provide tax credits of $1,000 to small businesses for each member of the National Guard and Reserve they hire, plus an additional amount based on the number of days served beyond the member’s 39 days of weekend training and annual training. The credit would also be offered as a payroll tax credit for businesses that haven’t been profitable during the prior year.
Impact on General Dentistry: AGD hopes that, if enacted, this legislation would create a valuable incentive for employers to hire and retain members of the National Guard and Reserve, many of whom are dentists and AGD members.
