The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of a chairside extraoral suction device in reducing aerosol contamination from patients undergoing ultrasonic scaling. The results suggest that the tested extraoral suction system may reduce aerosol contamination in the clinical dental setting, especially in proximity to the patient’s head, where most aerosols are generated.

A systematic scoping review of the literature regarding endodontic therapy in patients with inherited bleeding disorders (IBDs) revealed a lack of well-designed studies related to the topic. However, the available evidence suggests that endodontic therapy in patients with IBDs can be considered a low-risk procedure that usually can be conducted in a clinical setting without the need for hospital admittance.

The levels of target periodontal bacterial species in saliva and subgingival biofilms were evaluated during the transition from teeth indicated for extraction to immediate implants supporting immediately loaded complete dentures over 90 days. There was an overall reduction in the levels of pathogenic bacterial species during the transition from hopeless dentition to rehabilitation, but the subgingival biofilm around the implants harbored considerable levels of pathogenic species.

The marginal microleakage of a bioactive composite resin used with or without a bonding agent was compared with that of a traditional composite resin and a resin-modified glass ionomer cement (RMGIC). The bioactive composite exhibited lower microleakage rates than the RMGIC, so the fluoride-releasing bioactive material could be especially effective in high-caries-risk patients. Results suggested that the bioactive composite should be used with a bonding agent.

Because the majority of skin cancers appear in the head and neck region, dentists can play an important role in detecting suspicious skin lesions. In addition, dental providers can advise patients on proper sun-protective measures to decrease the risk of skin cancer. This article reviews the most common forms of skin cancer, the different types of UV radiation, and recommended sun-protective strategies.

This case report describes the digital workflow used for the restoration of 2 teeth in the posterior maxilla with a single-implant–supported zirconia fixed partial denture with a mesial cantilever extension. The prosthesis offered adequate resistance to chewing loads and was still providing satisfactory esthetics at a 2-year follow-up examination.

An integrative review of the literature suggests that bone wax is capable of negatively influencing bone healing and should be used cautiously in amounts that are just enough to promote the sealing of the bone channels.

The levels of target periodontal bacterial species in saliva and subgingival biofilms were evaluated during the transition from teeth indicated for extraction to immediate implants supporting immediately loaded complete dentures over 90 days. There was an overall reduction in the levels of pathogenic bacterial species during the transition from hopeless dentition to rehabilitation, but the subgingival biofilm around the implants harbored considerable levels of pathogenic species.

A dentofacial and temporomandibular deformity in a 22-year-old man was treated by means of reconstruction with a customized temporomandibular joint prosthesis and orthognathic surgery. Postoperatively, substantial improvement was observed in the facial pattern and masticatory function.

The marginal microleakage of a bioactive composite resin used with or without a bonding agent was compared with that of a traditional composite resin and a resin-modified glass ionomer cement (RMGIC). The bioactive composite exhibited lower microleakage rates than the RMGIC, so the fluoride-releasing bioactive material could be especially effective in high-caries-risk patients. Results suggested that the bioactive composite should be used with a bonding agent.

Because the majority of skin cancers appear in the head and neck region, dentists can play an important role in detecting suspicious skin lesions. In addition, dental providers can advise patients on proper sun-protective measures to decrease the risk of skin cancer. This article reviews the most common forms of skin cancer, the different types of UV radiation, and recommended sun-protective strategies.

This case report describes the digital workflow used for the restoration of 2 teeth in the posterior maxilla with a single-implant–supported zirconia fixed partial denture with a mesial cantilever extension. The prosthesis offered adequate resistance to chewing loads and was still providing satisfactory esthetics at a 2-year follow-up examination.

This article reports the case of a patient who exhibited a foreign body reaction associated with the use of bone wax after extraction of an impacted third molar. An integrative review of the literature suggests that bone wax is capable of negatively influencing bone healing and should be used cautiously in amounts that are just enough to promote the sealing of the bone channels.

This study assessed the effect of cervical preflaring on the file size chosen for instrumentation of root canals as well as the number of insertions required to reach the working length. The results showed that preflaring enabled a more suitable selection of reciprocating instrument, which, in turn, allowed for fewer insertions up to the working length.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of a chairside extraoral suction device in reducing aerosol contamination from patients undergoing ultrasonic scaling. The results suggest that the tested extraoral suction system may reduce aerosol contamination in the clinical dental setting, especially in proximity to the patient’s head, where most aerosols are generated.

A systematic scoping review of the literature regarding endodontic therapy in patients with inherited bleeding disorders (IBDs) revealed a lack of well-designed studies related to the topic. However, the available evidence suggests that endodontic therapy in patients with IBDs can be considered a low-risk procedure that usually can be conducted in a clinical setting without the need for hospital admittance.
