Timothy F. Kosinski, DDS, MAGD, Re-Elected Editor of the Academy of General Dentistry
The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) recently re-elected Timothy F. Kosinski, DDS, MAGD, as the AGD editor during its annual meeting on Nov. 12 in Chicago. This is his second term as editor, and previously served as associate editor. In 2020, Kosinski replaced long-time AGD editor Roger Winland, DDS, MS, MAGD, who retired after 24 years of consecutive service.
“I have been honored to serve as the current editor over the past three years and carry on the tradition of excellence tenured by Dr. Roger Winland in AGD Impact and General Dentistry,” said Kosinski. “I’ve enjoyed many positive comments about the 51 editorials I have presented in our publications, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to publish relevant news articles and peer-reviewed scientific research specific to the needs of general dentists.”
Kosinski graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy Dental School and received a master’s in biochemistry from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and the American Society of Osseointegration. He is a master of AGD and received his Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition in 2009, 2014 and 2020.. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the American and International Colleges of Dentists and the Academy of Dentistry International (ADI). He is a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon OKU and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
In Oct. 2023, Kosinski received the prestigious American Dental Association and American Association of Dental Editors and Journalists 2023 Distinguished Editor's Award. In 2017, he received the ADI’s Humanitarian Award.
“Tim displays such mastery in the area of dental implants and that passion has ignited his contribution as editor of AGD’s publications”, said Merlin Ohmer, DDS, MAGD, AGD President. “I am pleased to serve on the executive board another term with Tim as he begins a new term as editor for the AGD.”
Kosinski, is an affiliated adjunct clinical professor at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry and serves on the editorial review board of “Reality,” the information source for esthetic dentistry. In 2009, he was named University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry Alumni Association’s Alumnus of the Year.
He is a past president and past editor of the Michigan AGD. In 2001 he was named editor of Implants, the implant publication of Dentistry Today.
