Wes Blakeslee, DMD, FAGD, Retires as Academy of General Dentistry’s Podcaster and Associate Editor
Wes Blakeslee, DMD, FAGD, who has served as the Academy of General Dentistry’s (AGD) podcast host and Associate Editor, retired from both roles with the organization in January. Blakeslee’s longtime, active and consistent role supporting many of AGD’s communications platforms played a significant role in the decision to select him as the Associate Editor in 2020. As the creator and host of the AGD Podcast Series for 15 years, Blakeslee interviewed prominent dental educators, clinicians and manufacturers on the latest products, materials and techniques in dentistry. Blakeslee is retiring from both roles to dedicate more time to his practice, family and other dental commitments.
“Dr. Blakeslee offered a wealth of dental information and I know that he’ll be a missed asset by the AGD Editorial team,” said Timothy Kosinski, DDS, MAGD, AGD editor. “He was a dental podcast pioneer, putting in a lot of hard work in launching and cultivating the AGD podcast through the years and making it a great platform of resourceful information for all of our AGD members and the dental community. We are grateful for all his contributions.”
Blakeslee has been extremely active throughout the dental community. Currently, he is a Diplomate of both the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He is an AGD Fellow and previously served on the advisory board of AGD’s peer-reviewed journal, General Dentistry, as the implantology adviser.
As the podcast host, Blakeslee engaged the leaders within the dental community in lively, upbeat discussions. His podcasts were insightful and explored emerging topics and technologies with the goal of helping other general dentists stay apprised of the evolving profession.
