Academy of General Dentistry Awards Washington State Executive Director with Honorary Membership
The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) recently awarded an Honorary Membership to Valerie Bartoli, CDA, executive director for the Washington AGD and regional executive director for Region 11. She was presented the award during AGD’s Annual Meeting on November 21, 2021, held at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. Bartoli has supported Washington AGD and Region 11 (Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington) for over 20 years and has been instrumental in the organization’s growth and ability to serve general dentists in the area.
Honorary AGD members are recognized as individuals who have displayed a commitment and outstanding service to the profession of dentistry. They have upheld a commitment to the vision, principles, and goals of the AGD and have made exceptional efforts in promoting these ideals. In addition, through their selfless efforts and activities they have taken to the promotion of the AGD brand.
Through the tireless efforts of Bartoli, Washington AGD has grown in membership over 33% and has developed leadership in oral cancer advocacy by producing key resources that have enhanced education and increased awareness. She has also led many auctions and fundraising events that provide donations for oral cancer advocacy.
“Valerie definitely deserves this honorary membership as she has been an extraordinary supporter and advocate for the Washington AGD for many years,” said Bryan Edgar, DDS, MAGD. “What she has been able to accomplish for the Washington AGD is greatly applauded by all of the constituent membership.”
Bartoli is also responsible for helping Washington AGD develop a ten-chair hands-on clinic with a large teaching center and video production center. It is used to teach the Mastertrack program and other courses and has provided treatment for veterans and the underserved.
During COVID-19 shutdowns, Bartoli and the Washington AGD board provided over 40 free webinars to keep our members engaged. She has also worked to collaborate with Washington ADA constituents to produce continuing education activities.
Bartoli served on the AGD Foundation board for three years bringing her expertise in fundraising, gala event planning and general passion to help educate the public about oral cancer.
