The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) Foundation recently announced that the organization raised $19,000 this summer during its annual silent auction. Each year during the organization’s annual scientific session, the Foundation hosts an auction to raise funding to support its oral cancer awareness campaign.

The AGD Foundation uses its funding to provide grants to partnering organizations to build awareness and encourage people to get an oral cancer screening. This year the Oral Cancer Foundation estimated that about 53,500 people in the United States will be diagnosed with oral cancer, and each year that number grows. Organizations who receive the oral cancer grants from the AGD Foundation are tasked with conducting programs, oral cancer screenings and other public awareness efforts to support the overall mission of the Foundation.
