Description

As the global pandemic of SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) continues to circulate, the science and knowledge related to prevention evolves. As this knowledge emerges, it can be increasingly difficult to access information that is reliable and evidence-based. This fast-paced course will provide updates on topics of interest and importance to dental professionals, including the following: the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) for COVID-19; Centers for Disease Control Interim Guidelines; a review regarding aerosol-generating procedures; implementing a respiratory protection program; and vaccination guidelines and current recommendations.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the impact of regulatory requirements of OSHA temporary standards to protect healthcare workers.
  • Identify the major elements of the CDC Interim Guidelines for dentistry.
  • Understand the elements necessary to implement and maintain an OSHA-compliant respiratory protection program.

Speakers

Eve Cuny, MS, is executive associate dean and associate professor in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences at the Pacific Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, California.

Kathy Eklund, RDH, MHP, is director of Occupational Health and Safety and the Forsyth Research Subject & Patient Safety Advocate at The Forsyth Institute and adjunct faculty at Regis College, Dental Hygiene Program.
