Predictable Surgical and Restorative Solutions to Everyday Implant Rehabilitation Scenarios

Date(s)
Jul. 9, 2024 at 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Ryan S. Kang, DMD, MS, ABGD
Subject: 690 Implants
Credits: 1
Method: Lecture
Tuesday, July 9: 7:30–8:30 p.m. CDT
Audience: Students, Residents, Dentists
Fee: $37.50 (students and residents); $75 (members); $125 (nonmembers)

Description

Dental implant therapy in the anterior and posterior regions presents unique challenges to clinicians trying to achieve ideal esthetic and biologic results. In the past, implant surgery was performed wherever the patient’s anatomy allowed an implant to be placed. This strategy led to unpredictable outcomes and challenging restorative scenarios that did not meet patients’ high expectations. Many strategies have since been developed to reduce the variability and unpredictability of implant therapy and the final prosthetic outcome. The biggest paradigm shift is restorative-driven planning and the use of implant surgical guides. This shift has opened up the possibility of treating esthetic regions with high predictability. The purpose of this presentation is to demonstrate one such strategy.

Learning Objectives

  1. Understand the benefit of digital presurgical planning and fully guided implant surgery.
  2. Understand the benefit of prefabricating an implant temporary “shell” crown vs. the traditional “injection mold” technique.
  3. Learn what patient data is required to digitally plan, design and fabricate surgical guides and pre-indexed temporaries.
