In a September 8 letter to lead sponsors, AGD endorsed H.R. 7671, the Small Business Comeback Act. H.R. 7671 calls for the establishment of a Small Business Recovery Fund to help American businesses who have been negatively impacted by COVID-19.

AGD emphasized the increased costs dental practices are incurring to implement extensive infection control measures and to ensure the safest environments possible while resuming all care. Additionally, AGD noted it is crucial that dentists are able to continue the delivery of all services, as all oral health care is essential.

After the July introduction of H.R. 7671, AGD also expressed their support of the in a letter with America’s Recovery Fund Coalition (ARFC), who was vital in advocating for the legislation and obtaining bill sponsors. An Action Alert was created so AGD members can contact their members of Congress and ask them to support the legislation.

Impact on General Dentistry: AGD recognizes the costs associated with adopting new infection control measures have an enormous financial impact on small business dental practices while protecting the public is a top priority. We are pleased with the introduction of this legislation and its ability to provide a flexible federal funding mechanism for practices to adapt to new regulations and requirements, retain and rehire staff, pay rent and pay their state and local taxes.
