AGD has been invited to review and formally support the Standards for Leadership in Oral Health Care, an initiative developed by the American College of Dentists (ACD) to establish a framework for leadership across the oral health profession.

The standards are intended to provide oral health professionals with a common foundation for leadership development, with an emphasis on professionalism, ethics, communication, teamwork and lifelong learning.

As part of its review, AGD submitted recommendations related to continuing education. The organization recommended moving continuing education higher within both the Core Standards and Team Leadership categories to better reflect its importance in leadership development and professional growth.

AGD’s support reflects its belief that effective leadership is essential to advancing the profession and meeting the evolving needs of patients and communities, and AGD is pleased to join other organizations committed to strengthening leadership development throughout dentistry.
