Seonha Park, DMD, makes a difference in dentistry by staying involved with organized dentistry — a commitment that began in her second year of dental school when she started volunteering for both the ADA and AGD.
“Many young dental professionals work in small practices, and that can be isolating,” Park said. “By staying together, we can achieve, learn and improve.”
Park also proudly participates in large-scale dental volunteer events to give back to the public and meet other dentists. She has volunteered her dental expertise with Mission of Mercy, Give Kids a Smile and Dental Lifeline Network, in addition to serving as a board member for both the Massachusetts and New York AGD state constituencies. But her proudest accomplishment occurs each time she helps a patient feel more at ease in her office.
“Dental anxiety is real,” Park said. “When I have a new patient who is fearful of dental appointments, I try to see the appointment from their point of view. When my patients tell me that I helped them with their fear of the dentist, it is so rewarding.”
Her commitment to patient comfort and care — and her love of collaborating with other minds in the field — has made her highly regarded by patients and colleagues alike.
“It has been my honor and privilege to work with Dr. Park,” said Ira A. Levine, DDS, MAGD, 2018–19 regional director of Region 2. “She is so full of energy and useful insights. I am pleased to say that she is the future of AGD.”
