Exceptional Courses, Opportunities for Connections
On July 17–20, AGD hosted its annual scientific session, AGD2024, at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The meeting brought together general dentists, dental team members, and others in the dental profession to experience exceptional hands-on courses, inspiring lectures, fun networking events in the Exhibit Hall, and the opportunity to connect with others committed to excellence in dentistry.
“AGD’s meetings are always known for exceptional hands-on courses that specifically relate to the needs of general dentists,” said Merlin P. Ohmer, DDS, MAGD, AGD president. “I heard so many compliments on the value of these experiences as well as the opportunity to connect with others who want to grow their skills in new areas to help strengthen the care they provide to patients. The wide range of courses, combined with so many networking opportunities, makes this truly an excellent event. We also offered hybrid programming with virtual courses to support members who couldn’t attend in person.”
A special highlight of the meeting was the Keynote Address by Jeffrey Gurian, DDS, a comedian and dentist, who shared his unique insights and experiences and blended humor with professional expertise.
New dentists and dental students had access to a series of special programming in the New Dentist Lounge. These programs were designed to help those early in their career find tools and resources to put them on a path to success. Networking and mentorship events were also held during the meeting.
In addition to exceptional courses, the meeting is always capped off with the special Convocation Ceremony, which recognizes new Fellows, Masters, and Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition recipients. A moving and celebratory program honored these tremendous achievements. In 2024, the program recognized over 400 general dentists in these categories. Congratulations to everyone recognized this year. See the full list of recipients. (Learn more about Fellowship, Mastership, and Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition.)
