Academy of General Dentistry Selects Bruce Cassis, DDS, MAGD, as New Association Editor
Cassis joined the AGD, an association of 40,000 general dentists and dental students, in 1986 and has more than 40 years of experience in the dental industry. As the field of dentistry evolves, Cassis continues to advocate for general dentists and be a resource for the general public in the field of dentistry. In this role, Cassis will work alongside AGD’s Editor, Timothy Kosinski, DDS, MAGD, overseeing many of the editorial projects published by the organization. The AGD has two main publications – AGD Impact, a news and information magazine, and General Dentistry, a peer review journal.
“Dr. Cassis is passionate about dentistry, the Academy of General Dentistry, the professional development of dentists and I couldn’t think of a better person to serve as associate editor,” Timothy Kosinski, DDS, MAGD, AGD Editor said. “I’ve spent many years working with Dr. Cassis as a leader of the organization. He brings experience, knowledge and history of having served as the first chair of the Communications Council and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
Cassis also served as chair of the AGD Membership Council and the PACE Council. He joined AGD in 1986 and has served in many leadership roles, beginning with the West Virginia AGD where he served as president for four consecutive years. He received his AGD Mastership award and the Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition honor.
Cassis is a graduate of the West Virginia University School of Dentistry. He continues to practice general dentistry and hospital dentistry full time in Fayetteville, West Virginia.
Active in dental education and organizational dentistry, Cassis is a member of several professional dental organizations, including the American Dental Association, the West Virginia Dental Association, American College of Dentist, Association of Dental Implantology and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He has a mastership from the World Clinical Laser Institute and fellowship from the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation. He is eligible for fellowship from both the Academy of Dentistry International and the American College of Dentists.
