Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma of the Palate Mimicking a Pyogenic Granuloma
A lesion on the palate of a 30-year-old woman was initially treated as a pyogenic granuloma, but histopathologic analysis established a diagnosis of low-grade mucoepidermoid carcinoma. Some malignant tumors can mimic nonneoplastic reactive lesions, and biopsy of suspicious lesions plus proper microscopic analysis are important to avoid late diagnosis.
