AGD Congratulates Newly Assigned CDC Director
On January 20, AGD sent a letter to Dr. Rochelle Walensky congratulating her on her recent selection by President Biden to be the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Administrator of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR). The CDC Director position does not require Senate confirmation.
In a statement from Dr. Walensky on January 20, she noted that one of CDC’s first undertakings would be a process of reviewing and updating all existing guidance related to COVID-19. Dr. Walensky served as Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Massachusetts General Hospital from 2017-2020 and Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School from 2012-2020.
Impact on General Dentistry: The AGD looks forward to working with Dr. Walensky and her colleagues at CDC to improve the status of oral health in the U.S.
