Wes Blakeslee, DMD, FAGD, Named Associate Editor
Wes Blakeslee, DMD, FAGD, a general dentist who practices in New Jersey, has been selected to serve as AGD Associate Editor, a role previously held by Timothy Kosinski, DDS, MAGD, who was elected Editor last year. Blakeslee is a diplomate of both the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He is an AGD Fellow and previously served on the advisory board of General Dentistry as the implantology adviser. The creator and host of the AGD Podcast Series, Blakeslee interviews prominent dental educators, clinicians and manufacturers on the latest products, materials and techniques in dentistry.
Blakeslee completed his undergraduate studies at Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania. After two years of graduate study in biology at Seton Hall University, he was accepted to the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey, where he earned his DMD degree in 1979.
Following dental school, Blakeslee completed a three-year tour of active duty with the Navy Dental Corps, assigned to Naval Air Station Pensacola in Pensacola, Florida. During his last year, he was selected by his commanding officer to be the dentist assigned to the Blue Angels, the U.S. Navy’s flight demonstration squadron.
In 1983, Blakeslee established a general dentistry practice in Wall Township, New Jersey, dedicated to the comprehensive rehabilitation of patients using the most advanced treatment modalities. He has been recognized as one of the best dentists in Monmouth County by both the Asbury Park Press and Monmouth County Health & Wellness magazine. He was also named a “NJ Top Dentist” by New Jersey magazine.
He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the American Academy of Implant Prosthodontics, and the Misch Implant Institute. He presently serves on the Advisory Board for the nonprofit organization Oral Cancer Cause.
Blakeslee is on the editorial boards for PennWell Publications and the International Journal of Dentistry and Oral Health, and he is a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Oral Implantology and the Sports Health Journal.
Blakeslee has served as a consultant to GoldenDent, CAESY Education Systems, The Dental Advisor, Hiossen Implant and the U.S. Naval Academy. In 2011, Blakeslee was invited to join the prestigious Speaking Consulting Network group as the AGD representative. He is also the AGD representative to the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.
Blakeslee enjoys spending his free time with his wife and three adult children. His interests include photography, golf and writing.
