The Academy of General Dentistry’s (AGD’s) House of Delegates installed new officers during its annual meeting, held virtually this year, Oct. 23–25. Bruce L. Cassis, DDS, MAGD, a general dentist from Fayetteville, West Virginia, was named president.

“We must funnel our efforts and resources to bring AGD to the height of relevance in organized dentistry and, most importantly, to our members and potential members,” said Cassis. “As an organization with a mission, we must reach consensus and move forward with a sense of urgency.”

As AGD president, Cassis wants to strengthen the organization’s governance and improve the decision-making process in order to expedite responses and outcomes on AGD business. He previously served as chair of the Membership and Communications councils and has a strong understanding of the products and services that general dentists value. 

Other officers who were elected during the meeting include Hans Guter, DDS, FAGD, as vice president, Donald Worm, DDS, MAGD, ABGD, as treasurer, and Timothy F. Kosinski, DDS, MAGD, as editor.

Other members of the 2020–21 Executive Committee include: Gerald J. Botko, DMD, MS, MAGD, as president-elect; Abe Dyzenhaus, DDS, FAGD, as secretary; Bryan C. Edgar, DDS, MAGD, as speaker of the house; and Connie L. White, DDS, FAGD, now immediate past president.
 
The regional election outcomes included the following selections:

• In Region 5, Eric L. Morse, DDS, is the regional director, and Nicholas J. Russo, DMD, is the trustee. 
• In Region 6, Steven Ghareeb, DDS, FAGD, is the regional director, and Samantha Shaver, DDS, FAGD, is the trustee.
• In Region 7, Aparna Sadineni, DDS, MAGD, is the regional director, and Michael Gordon, DDS, MAGD, is the trustee.
• In Region 8, Larry N. Williams, DDS, MAGD, ABGD, is the regional director, and Robert S. Kozelka, DDS, MAGD, is the trustee.
• In Region 9, Louis Boryc, DDS, FAGD, is the regional director, and Dennis Charnesky, DDS, MAGD, is the trustee.
• In Region 10, Thomas St. Germain, DDS, FAGD, is the regional director, and Bradley J. Anderson, DDS, FAGD, is the trustee.
• In Region 11, Puneet Aulakh, DDS, MAGD, is the regional director, and Ravi Sinha, DDS, is the trustee.
