Timothy F. Kosinski, DDS, MAGD, Elected AGD Editor
Chicago, IL (October 25, 2020) – The Academy of General Dentistry recently elected Timothy F. Kosinski, DDS, MAGD, as the editor during its Annual Meeting on October 25, held virtually due to COVID-19. Since 2015, Kosinski has served as associate editor and has a strong appreciation for AGD’s news and peer-reviewed publications. He replaces long-time AGD editor Roger Winland, DDS, MS, MAGD, who retired after 24 years of consecutive service.
“Teaching and writing are innate in me as I prolifically publish my clinical cases in the dental literature and have written chapters in two textbooks,” said Kosinski. “During my two stints as editor of the Michigan AGD, I learned that I enjoyed gathering information on members and promoting the profession. As a longtime member of the AGD Communications Council, retiring editor Roger D. Winland, DDS, MS, MAGD, asked me to become the AGD associate editor five years ago. I took that as an incredible compliment. The job as editor is to set a framework of excellence in our publications that our members will enjoy. I wish to continue the tradition of Dr. Winland’s excellence and lead in the creation of high-quality publications that will make all our members proud.”
Kosinski graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy Dental School and received a masters in biochemistry from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and the American Society of Osseointegration. He is a master of AGD and also received his Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the American and International colleges of dentists and the Academy of Dentistry International (ADI). In 2017, he received the ADI’s Humanitarian Award “in recognition of significant contributions to the enhancement of the quality of life and the human condition.” He is a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon OKU and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
Kosinski, is an affiliated adjunct clinical professor at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry and serves on the editorial review board of “Reality,” the information source for esthetic dentistry. In 2009, he was named University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry Alumni Association’s Alumnus of the Year.
He is a past president and past editor of the Michigan AGD. In 2001 he was named editor of Implants, the implant publication of Dentistry Today.
Kosinski has placed over 14,000 dental implants and published over 200 articles on the surgical and prosthetic phases of implant dentistry and was a contributor to the textbooks “Principles and Practices of Implant Dentistry” (2001) and “Dental Implantation and Technology” (2010). He was featured on Nobel Biocare’s Nobel Vision and lectures extensively.
