Cheryl Mora, DDS, MAGD, started as Regional Director of Region 8, Illinois, in November 2017. Mora graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1983 and obtained her dental degree from the University Of Illinois College Of Dentistry in 1991. Mora joined AGD upon graduation in 1991. She received her Mastership Award in 2015. She is past president of the Illinois Academy of General Dentistry (ILAGD) and currently serves as chair of the ILAGD Continuing Education Committee and co-chair of the ILAGD Membership Committee. She is also a director for the Chicago Component of the ILAGD, where she served as president in 2009. She is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists and the Academy of Dentistry International. Mora is also a member of the American Dental Association, the Illinois Dental Society and the Chicago Dental Society, where she is program chair for the 2021 Chicago Midwinter Meeting.
Mora believes that leaders are made, not born, and that experienced leaders need to mentor and guide our younger colleagues to become leaders in organized dentistry. She is a proponent and a practitioner of lifelong learning and is currently co-director of the Illinois and Wisconsin AGD Mastertrack Program.
Mora has two general dentistry practices, one in Vernon Hills, Illinois, and the other in Arlington Heights, Illinois. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading mystery novels and biking. Her son, Brad, works for the Operations Division of Uber, and her daughter, Cassie, is a second-year dental student at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry.
