Rutgers AGD Student Chapter Hosts Welcome Event
On September 22, the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM) chapter of AGD held their largest and most successful welcome event of the year. Over 80 students, as well as three New Jersey AGD (NJAGD) board members — Dr. Schmidt (NJAGD Vice President), Dr. Ghisalberti (NJAGD Treasurer) and Dr. Tuttle (NJAGD New Dentist Chair) —enjoyed a night of fine food, drinks and a continued education seminar on veneers taught by private practice dentist and faculty member Dr. George Schmidt.
A successful event like this required a lot of behind-the-scenes work. Planning was spearheaded by the RSDM AGD E-Board and guided by Dr. Ballesteros, the group’s faculty advisor and the immediate past present of NJAGD.
Once a date was confirmed, the RSDM AGD E-Board reached out to NJAGD and asked Dr. Schmidt if he would like to lecture. After surveying many students on topics they would like to hear, RSDM AGD concluded that veneers were the obvious choice. Selecting a restaurant was difficult, but they were able to find one that could handle a large number of students and provide a great room with food at a reasonable price. Flyers made by President-Elect Sam Ben-Ezra were used to promote the event. The RSDM AGD E-Board dedicated over 10 hours of time and energy to marketing and advertising the event.
Days before the event, the final issues were solved and the RSDM AGD was able to rent an AV setup and use the restaurant’s projector for the lecture. All of their planning paid off. The night went without a hitch, and they received great feedback from the 80+ attendees. After its success, they are already planning a similar event in the spring.
RSDM AGD thanks everyone who came out and enjoyed the night!
