Chicago, IL (03.20.2015) — General dentists are gatekeepers to the main entryway of both healing and disease – the mouth. As the theme for this year’s World Oral Health Day, “Say Ahh: Act on Mouth Health,” would imply, more attention to oral health is essential in sustaining a healthy body. In its efforts to make sure that oral health remains a priority throughout the world, the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) promotes opportunities for general dentist to connect, share insights and learn best practices. The organization’s goal is to establish a network of support for general dentists throughout the world so that they can continue to affect change and advocate for policies that support the highest quality of care for their patients.

“As the president of AGD as well as a Canadian citizen, I have the advantage to experience the many ways dentistry is growing and changing in different countries,” said Neil J. Gajjar, DDS, MAGD, president of AGD. “From a policy perspective, I think all dentists are working toward the same efforts of minimizing oral health diseases. In areas of research, product development and the delivery of care, advancements are truly changing the way we do our work. This is tremendously exciting and something we want every person, regardless of where you live, to be able to access.”
