This course describes how dental professionals can take care of themselves when faced with physical challenges due to everyday practice.

Learning Objectives 

  1. Understand why dental professionals are physically at risk due to occupational hazards.
  2. Understand options for managing pain and/or seeking assistance.
  3. Understand the importance of fitness as a dental professional and what muscles are involved.
  4. Learn practical ways to increase flexibility in and outside the office.

Speaker Bio  

Ralph A. Cooley, DDS, FAGD, is the admissions dean at UTHealth School of Dentistry in Houston, Texas, after practicing dentistry for 34 years in Conroe, Texas. Cooley has been involved with organized dentistry his entire career. Currently, he serves on the AGD Legislative & Governmental Affairs Council, the Dental Quality Alliance and the American Dental Association Code Maintenance Committee. Cooley has a passion for sports and fitness. He played baseball at Rice University and coached baseball for over 20 years. He maintains that passion and teaches the “Dental Fitness” course to students at UTHealth Houston.
