A comparison of formulas for idealized proportions of the maxillary incisors (Mondelli formula 1, Mondelli formula 2, Albers formula, esthetic proportion, and golden ratio) against measurements in natural teeth revealed that none of the suggested proportions exactly matched the actual measurements of the population. These formulas can serve as guidelines for esthetic planning, but the patient’s individual characteristics and dentist’s expertise should determine treatment.

This review assessed the relationship between oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) around dental implants and a history of a potentially malignant lesion (PML) or malignant lesion. There is no statistical evidence of a direct association between implants and OSCC in patients with a history of PML or malignancy, but case reports suggest that these patients should be evaluated regularly, particularly if they have other OSCC risk factors such as a history of smoking or alcohol abuse.

This article reviews the literature regarding tetracycline staining of the dentition and describes the treatment of severe tetracycline staining affecting the maxillary anterior dentition of a 48-year-old man. Direct composite resin laminate veneers were fabricated with a combination of different resinous materials in different shades to meet the functional and esthetic needs of the patient.

This retrospective study assessed the bone quality of healing mandibular fracture sites by measuring the Hounsfield units (HU) on computed tomography images obtained presurgery and postsurgery in patients treated with rigid internal fixation. In these patients, the HU values measured by CT varied across time, expressing the physiologic bone healing process.

This case report describes the prosthetic treatment of a 56-year-old man who underwent total glossectomy, resulting in speech and swallowing difficulties. Esthetic and functional tests were carried out on 3 prototypes of a tongue prosthesis retained by clasps on the first molars. One tongue prototype designed to facilitate speech and another designed to aid in eating and swallowing were selected, and both prostheses were fabricated to restore the patient’s oral function.

This case report examines the atypical healing of an endodontic lesion. Two months after a patient missed her endodontic treatment appointment, she required emergency treatment that included canal cleaning, application of a modified triple antibiotic paste (penicillin G, metronidazole, and ciprofloxacin), and temporary restoration. She failed to seek definitive root canal therapy, but follow-up examinations at 1 and 5 years disclosed gradual healing of the lesion.

This case report describes the treatment of peri-implantitis in a 71-year-old man using mechanical debridement combined with application of bioresorbable doxycycline nanospheres. At the 3-year evaluation, the peri-implant tissues had improved, exhibiting decreased probing depth, minimal bleeding on probing, and no suppuration.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is associated with oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC). The current 9-valent HPV vaccine (Gardasil 9) protects against high-risk strains that have been shown to cause OPSCC, and dentists may play a role in the prevention of HPV-related OPSCCs by communicating with their patients about vaccination recommendations.
