Intraosseous neurilemoma of the mandible with unusual multilocular presentation: a case report

This case report describes the rare occurrence of an intraosseous neurilemoma presenting radiographically as a multilocular lesion in a 12-year-old girl. The diagnosis was confirmed with histologic and immunohistochemical analyses, and the lesion was managed with conservative surgical excision.

Surface degradation of composite resins for direct restorations: effects on wear and gloss retention

This study assessed the 2-body wear and gloss retention of 7 different composite resins for direct restorations following thermomechanical cycling and 15 minutes of simulated toothbrushing, respectively. The universal composite resin Filtek Supreme XTE attained the lowest wear rates and the best gloss retention.

Effect of hydroelectrolytic and energy beverages on the color stability and fluorescence of composite resins

The objective of the present study was to assess the influence of energy and hydroelectrolytic beverages on the color stability and fluorescence of composite resins. After Amelogen, Filtek Z350 XT, and Filtek Bulk Fill specimens were immersed for 1 hour a day in distilled water (control), Red Bull, or Gatorade for 3 months, tests revealed that energy and hydroelectrolytic beverages altered both the color stability and fluorescence of the materials at all timepoints.

Tooth autotransplantation in a diabetic patient with 2-year follow-up

In the first reported case of tooth autotransplantation in a patient with diabetes mellitus, a nonrestorable, carious mandibular right second molar was extracted and replaced with the patient’s impacted mandibular right third molar. Clinical examination at the 2-year follow-up confirmed that the transplanted tooth was vital.

Munchausen syndrome: report of a case and implications for dentists

Munchausen syndrome (MunS), or factitious disorder imposed on self, is an exceedingly rare and difficult syndrome to identify and manage and is considered a diagnosis of exclusion. This article describes a case of MunS in a 60-year-old woman who sought treatment for bilateral jaw pain and uncontrolled jaw movements and addresses the identification of MunS, relevant courses of action, and the consequences of overdiagnosis of MunS.

Two case reports describe the endodontic treatment of molars presenting with hypertaurodontism. Teeth affected by taurodontism can be a clinical challenge due to their complex internal anatomy and accessory root canals, but endodontic treatment in both cases was successful due to the use of magnification, careful attention to internal anatomy, and meticulous procedures.
