Speaker Biography
Dr. Comisi has been in private practice in Ithaca, NY since 1983, and is President and CEO of Dental Care with a Difference®, PC, and “Knowledge Brings Health”®. He is a graduate of Northwestern University Dental School and received his Bachelor of Science in Biology at Fordham University. He is a respected Key Opinion Leader, has lectured nationally and internationally and has contributed to the dental literature in such Journals as General Dentistry, Compendium of Continuing Dental Education, Dental Product Shopper, Mentor Magazine, Dental Products Report, Dental Economics, CE Cosmetic Dentistry, Oral Health Journal and Inside Dentistry

He is a member of the Catapult Group, the Dental Industry’s Premier Speakers Bureau. He is also an Editorial Board Member for Dental Product Shopper magazine, and a member of the Continuing Education Advisory Board of Dental Learning. He is a member of the National Dental Practice Based Research Network (NDPBRN) and the International and American Association of Dental Research.

Dr. Comisi is a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry, and holds Fellowships in the Academy of Dentistry International, the American College of Dentistry, the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the International College of Dentistry. He also holds national office as the Academy of General Dentistry’s Speaker of the House.

Understanding the technology and new innovations in dental care are of keen interest to Dr. Comisi. His investigations into the practical applications of these products and services helps his dental audience get a better perspective on what works and what needs further improvement in the field of dentistry.

Dr. Comisi offers half-day, full-day and multi-day lectures, including custom courses and hands-on workshops.

The Balanced Oral Environment: Assessing, Restoring and Maintaining Dental Health

The infective process of dental decay has been a primary focus of the modern dental practice. Mountains of dental literature exist to help explain this process and yet our patients still struggle with this controllable disease.

What do we as dental professionals do to help our patients cope and manage this disease process? What procedures, techniques and materials can we use the slow down the process and perhaps reverse it? We know that the management of periodontal disease is a factor, but how can we make this aspect become more predictable? How do we stop “one step forward, two steps back” game?

This course will explore the whole basis of patient care including: cariology, preventive care, diagnostics, minimally invasive dentistry periodontal management, and how bioactive materials can and should be considered for use in your dental practice. We will explore the realm of composites and bonding systems, glass ionomers and the new categories of bioactive materials available; and their place in today’s dental care armamentarium The clinician will help you develop a greater comfort level for the many applications to use these versatile and important dental materials in today’s dental practice.

The Glass Ionomer Revolution: Using Bioactive Materials to Achieve Proactive Dental Care.

For years the dental profession has been struggling with providing effective long-term direct restorative solutions for our patients. The evidence is mounting that our current “passive” materials should instead be “bioactive”.

With many new bioactive materials being introduced, there is a need for the dental care provider to understand how to use these materials and why they are important in patient care.

In this course we will explore:

  • You will be introduced to several restorative techniques and bioactive materials used in the placement of direct and indirect restorations, which can transform the way you approach all your direct restorations. The clinician will help you develop a greater comfort level for the many applications to use these versatile and important dental materials in today’s dental practice.
