AGD’s House of Delegates installed new officers during its annual meeting, Nov. 22–24. Merlin P. Ohmer, DDS, MAGD, a general dentist from Florida, concluded his term as AGD president, and Chethan Chetty, DDS, MAGD, was installed as AGD president for 2024–25.
Officers selected during the meeting include George J. Schmidt, DDS, FAGD, as vice president; and Joseph A. Picone, DMD, MAGD, as treasurer. Other members of the 2024–25 Executive Committee include: Marc J. Worob, DDS, FAGD, as president-elect; Kimberly R. Wright, DMD, MAGD, as secretary; Robert M. Peskin, DDS, FAGD, as speaker of the House of Delegates; and Timothy F. Kosinski, DDS, MAGD, as editor.
The regional election outcomes included the following selections:
- In Region 13, William Kushner, DDS, FAGD, is the regional director; Eric Wong, DDS, MAGD, is the trustee.
- In Region 14, Mai-Ly Duong, DMD, MAGD, is the regional director; Jason Eaton, DDS, MAGD, is the trustee.
- In Region 15-16, Connie Tse-Wallerstein, DDS, MAGD, and Larry Trites, DDS, are the regional directors; C.P. Giri, DDS, is the trustee.
- In Region 17, Kate Chiodo, DDS, FAGD, is the regional director; Demarcio L. Reed, DMD, MHA, MAGD, ABGD, is the trustee.
- In Region 19, Lisa Gushin, DDS, FAGD, is the regional director; William A. Burn III, DMD, MAGD, is the trustee.
- In Region 20, Aldo Miranda-Collazo, DDS, is the regional director; Merlin P. Ohmer, DDS, MAGD, is the trustee.
During the meeting,
Julie Spaniel, DDS, a general dentist from Portland Oregon, received the prestigious 2024 AGD Humanitarian Award. Spaniel, a member of the AGD for more than 35 years, is recognized for her selfless international mission work and commitment to mentoring young up-and-coming dentists. This award is given each year to a dentist who contributes volunteer service in conjunction with a consistent commitment to enhancing the image of general dentistry through the continuous delivery of quality dental care.
