AGD Convocation Ceremony and Reception
2025 Convocation Information
The AGD2025 Convocation Ceremony will take place at Palais des Congrès de Montréal, in Montréal, QC, on Saturday, July 12, 2025.
Complimentary General Meeting Registration
As a reminder, AGD is pleased to provide awardees and LLSR Recipients with complimentary general registration and two complimentary tickets to the 2025 Convocation Reception. Both must be secured through the AGD annual meeting registration process. If you need assistance with the registration process, contact our meetings team at meetings@agd.org.
Cap and Gown Orders (Fellows and Masters Only)
All 2025 Fellow and Master Awardees must reserve a cap and gown to wear during the 2025 Convocation Ceremony no later than Friday May 9, 2025. Reservation information will be emailed to all approved applicants by April 7, 2025. There is no fee to reserve a cap and gown for the ceremony. Fellows and Masters can pick up your reserved cap & gown onsite at AGD2025 on Friday, July 11 (7:30 am to 6: 30 pm) and Saturday, July 12 (7:30 am to 3:00 pm). Email education@agd.org if you do not receive information on how to reserve your cap and gown by April 7, 2025
Note: LLSR recipients do not wear caps and gowns. LLSR recipients should dress in business attire to accept their pin and academic honor stole onstage.
Convocation Rehearsal
Rehearsal for awardees and LLSR recipients will be Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 3:30 pm to 4:15 pm. Fellows and Masters must attend dressed in their cap and gown. You will not have time to pick it up after rehearsal. Guests are not allowed in the ballroom during the rehearsal. Seat assignments will be emailed no later than July 3, 2025. It is recommended that awardees/LLSRs do not make any plans after 12:30 pm as constituents and regions may schedule group photographs. Email education@agd.org if you have questions or need special seating accommodations.
Convocation Ceremony
The Convocation Ceremony will be on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Palais des Congrès de Montréal, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The ceremony is expected to last approximately two and a half hours. Doors will open for guest seating approximately 15 minutes before the ceremony begins. Ample, non-reserved seating will be available. Tickets are not needed to attend the Convocation Ceremony. All guests are welcome.
The AGD photographer will take photos of all LLSR recipients and awardees as they cross the stage. Family members may take photos from their seats; Please remind your family members that they will not be allowed to enter the aisles or approach the stage to take pictures.
Helpful Hints for Convocation
- Wear comfortable clothing. Suit jackets or heavy clothing will be uncomfortable under your robe.
- Eat before you arrive for rehearsal. You will not have an opportunity to eat before the ceremony.
- Come to rehearsal in your cap and gown. Please dispose of the bag and hanger holding your robe prior to arriving. (LLSR recipients should dress in business attire)
- Do not bring excess belongings, such as a briefcase, laptops, etc., to the ceremony as there is no space to store such items.
Guests at the Convocation Ceremony
Guests attending only the Convocation Ceremony are NOT required to register for AGD2025 for the Convocation Ceremony. There will be ample seating available. Please encourage your guests to arrive no more than ten minutes before the doors are scheduled to open. If you have guests with limited mobility or require special accommodations, email education@agd.org no later than Friday, June 27, 2025 to request early, reserved seating.
Pins, Certificates, Plaques and Crystals
All 2025 Awardees and LLSR Recipients will receive a pin during the ceremony. 2025 LLSR Recipients will also receive an academic stole. FAGD Certificates, MAGD Plaques and LLSR Crystals will be shipped to all 2025 recipients four to eight weeks after the Convocation Ceremony.
Convocation Reception
Enjoy breathtaking views of downtown Montréal immediately following the ceremony. All LLSR and award recipients are invited to celebrate their achievements with AGD leaders, members, families, and friends, on the Palais des Congrès de Montréal’s rooftop terrace. The reception will feature light appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages. Cash bars available. This is a ticketed event, appropriate for all ages. 2025 Fellows, Masters and LLSRs must register to receive two complimentary Convocation Reception tickets. Additional guest tickets can be purchased through the registration system. Adult tickets (13 and older): $75. Child tickets, ages 5-12: $30, Children under 5: no charge. If you have already registered for AGD2025, please use the link in your confirmation to access your registration and add guest Convocation Reception tickets to your event. Convocation Portraits
Awardees, LLSR recipients, and their families are invited to have a formal portrait taken at the AGD2025 Photo Studio. This is an ideal time to take a formal portrait in your cap and gown, update your professional head shot, or take family photos. Caps, gowns, ribbons, and pins will be available in the studio, you will not need to bring your caps and gowns with you. The AGD photographer will take photos of all LLSR recipients and awardees on stage with AGD President, Chethan Chetty, DDS, MAGD. These photos will be available for purchase approximately two weeks after the meeting.
Regional Group Photos
Many regions will schedule times for group photos on Saturday, July 12, 2025. Please contact your regional director or constituent executive early July 2025. You should arrive for your group photo dressed in your cap and gown. Extra caps and gowns will not be available for group photos.
Photos for Convocation Slideshow
LLSR recipients and awardees are invited to submit photos of themselves with family, staff or colleagues to be included in a slideshow shown before and after the Convocation Ceremony. Send a maximum of four (4) photos in JPEG format only (We cannot guarantee any format other than JPEG will work) to education@agd.org by Monday, June 30, 2025. Please label photos by your last name, first initial and number. Example SmithJ_1, SmithJ_2, etc. Any photos over the first four will not be used.

Join us for Getting There: Mastership session on Friday July 11 at 4:15 pm – 5:15 pm . Learn what hours are needed to qualify for the AGD Mastership Award, understand your transcript summary pages and hear from MasterTrack Programs who can guide you on your quest for the Mastership award. This is a free session, but registration is required.
