Coronavisus_AA report published in the November 2020 Journal of the American Dental Association found that COVID-19 prevalence and positive rates among dentists were low and concluded that “current infection controls recommendations may be sufficient to prevent infection in dental settings.” The study was based on a June web survey of 2,105 dentists representing all 50 states. It found that that less than 1% (0.9%) had confirmed or probable COVID-19 and that enhanced infection control measures had been adopted in 99.7% of practices.

These results are important to general dentists when reassuring the public of the safety of oral care and to support advocacy efforts to ensure dental practices have access to PPE.
