Student Stories“Before filling out the application to be a student delegate, I was a little apprehensive because I had no experience with parliamentary procedure. After some thought, I decided to step out of my comfort zone, and I sent in my application. I'm so glad I did!

It was a full weekend of learning and new experiences for me. I was surprised at how many topics discussed at the House of Delegates were centered around students. I felt like I was important and valued. As a student delegate, I had a vote just like the rest of the delegates. The leaders in my region understood that this was my first time attending, and they took me under their wing and explained everything to me. In between attending all the sessions, I was able to go to lunch and dinner with the delegates from my region. It was a great opportunity to make connections and get to know dentists in my area.

All in all, I had such an incredible experience as a student delegate. It gave me a new appreciation for organized dentistry and all the work that goes on to keep dentistry the great profession that it is. I would recommend that everyone apply! It is a great learning experience and way to network as we prepare to start our careers.”
