Description
Oral and oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) cancer is a clinically aggressive malignancy with significant morbidity and mortality. Despite therapeutic advances, long-term survival is modest. As such, early detection and prevention are critical components for improving clinical outcomes. This webinar will discuss the etiologic factors associated with SCC and the American Dental Association Clinical Oral Cancer Screening Guidelines.

- Define and describe the Healthy People 2030 Oral Health Objective (OH-7).
- Describe the critical role of the dental healthcare team in oral cancer screening.
- Identify the critical components for performing a comprehensive visual and tactile exam.
Speaker Bios
Ashleigh Briody, DDS, MS, is from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.
Dr. Mark Lingen is a professor of pathology at The University of Chicago Medicine. He serves as president of the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.
Nathan Mork, DDS, MPH, is the Indian Health Service oral health promotion disease prevention officer. He serves as the interim U.S. Public Health Service chief dental officer.
Tim Ricks, DMD, MPH, FICD, FACD, FPFA, is a retired U.S. Public Health Service chief dental officer/assistant surgeon general. He currently serves as an Indian Health Service dental public health specialist.
