The U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services (HHS) recently extended the deadline for both non-Medicaid and Medicaid/CHIP dental providers to apply for distribution under the CARES Act Provider Relief Fund to August 3, 2020. AGD recently composed an overview of the Medicaid, CHIP & Dental Distribution to provide insight and assist members who are interested in applying for funds. Additionally, HHS held a webinar on July 27 to discuss the expansion of the relief fund, answer questions for dental providers and walk through the application process.

Eligible dentists will receive a reimbursement of approximately 2% of their annual reported patient revenue. Providers who received funding must attest to the funds and agree to the Program Terms and Conditions, or agree to return the funds within 90 days of payment.

Before applying, AGD recommends members review our guidance which features important information and resources including those highlighted on the HHS Provider Relief Fund webpage

Impact on General Dentistry: AGD strongly recommends that eligible practices act promptly, as the August 3 deadline is quickly approaching. AGD is pleased that HHS has followed through on opening the distribution of relief funds to a broader group of eligible dentists and that they continue to provide support through guidance and information on how to take advantage of the program.
