Description

A major debate within dentistry is implant placement vs. tooth retention. In this session, different aspects of dental implantology will be objectively evaluated and critiqued from a scholarly point of view. This presentation is based on objective interpretation of available data and does not cater to any commercial interests in order to provide a forum for lively academic discussion, unfettered by conflicts of interest.

Speaker Bio 

Hessam Nowzari, DDS, PhD, graduated from the University of Brussels in Belgium, the University of Rennes in France and the University of Southern California (USC) Advanced Periodontics Program. He holds a PhD in biology and health sciences. He was the director of advanced periodontics at USC from 1995 to 2012 and is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He is the founder of the Taipei Academy of Reconstructive Dentistry in Taiwan. He was an active member of a review committee for The National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes (ANVUR) in Italy from 2012 to 2016 and served as one of the scientific experts charged with assessing and ranking research proposals on behalf of the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research. He was the 2013 guest editor-in-chief of the Journal de Parodontologie & d'Implantologie Orale in France and is on the editorial board of Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research. Nowzari is the producer of a nonprofit movie, “The Enemy of The Smile,” 2011 winner of the Best Short Educational Film in the International Family Film Festival and the Beverly Hills Film Festival. “What Killed the Smile of Hatshepsut, A Woman Who Was a Pharaoh?” won the 2012 Award of Merit from The Accolade Global Film Competition, which honors outstanding craft and creativity in film, television and videography. He is the organizer of Nowzari Symposiums in Beverly Hills. There is no commercial exhibition of any kind at his symposiums. He has over 150 research publications.
