AGD Executive Director Max Moses Retires, Daniel Buksa Named Interim Executive Director.
AGD Executive Director Max Moses, JD, CPA, MBA, announced his retirement from AGD earlier in 2020. He has served as executive director since early 2018, and he leaves full-time employment at the end of 2020. Moses led the organization during COVID-19 challenges, maintaining the organization’s focus during closures, regulatory changes and virtual meetings. During this time, he added new programs and services to support general dentists, including the group buying initiative AGDVANTAGE, a program for amalgam recycling and many more. He also supported AGD leaders as they looked to streamline AGD operations.
“One lesson we learned during the COVID-19 crisis was that AGD can be nimble,” said Moses. “Within literally hours, the AGD team pivoted to produce dozens of webinars — both COVID-related as well as clinical — and delivered them free of charge to thousands of general dentists. In addition, AGD’s Dental Practice Council led the way by creating guidance for general dentists to reopen their practices.
“I have been honored and proud to serve as AGD’s executive director these past three years,” he continued. “AGD is an outstanding organization, led by passionate volunteers and supported by dedicated and talented team members. I am certain that AGD will grow and lead general dentistry to great success in the coming year.”
Moses came to AGD from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, where he held various positions since 2005, including director of communications and marketing and interim director of education.
A search for a new executive director is ongoing. In the meantime, the Board has named AGD Associate Executive Director, Public Affairs Daniel Buksa, JD, CAE, as Interim Executive Director. With over 23 years of experience with the organization, Buksa is knowledgeable about all areas of the organization and the needs of general dentists.
