Step Two: Prepare For Your Appointment
Dental offices have made changes to their procedures for enhanced safety. Ask your dentist how you should prepare for the appointment. While speaking with the dental office, ask if there are steps you should take prior to or on the day of your appointment to comply with new safety protocols. Some considerations include:
- Complete all pre-appointment screening questions.
- Do not visit your dentists if you feel sick or have symptoms of COVID-19, or have potentially been exposed.
- Find out what procedures the office has in place while you wait to see your dental team. (You may need to wait outside until the team is ready for you.)
- Know whether anyone can join you during the appointment. If you are taking a child to the dentist, find out if he or she will need to go into the office with or without a parent.
- Make sure you have a mask to wear before and after your treatments.
Here are some helpful questions:
- Is everyone required to wear a mask, including staff?
- Will there be other patients being treated at the practice during the same time of my visit?
- How long will my wait time be when I arrive to the office?
- Can I go into the office with my children? Can anyone come in with me?
