On April 18, AGD President Dr. Manuel A. Cordero and several AGD leaders participated in a regular quarterly call with officials from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).  CMS briefed AGD on a proposed regulation that would amend the process for states to document whether Medicaid payments in the fee-for-service systems are sufficient to enlist dental providers to assure access to covered care and services.  The AGD representatives reviewed with CMS the many challenges that general dentists encounter as Medicaid providers, including coverage decisions by managed care plans.

Impact on General Dentistry: AGD will continue its efforts in communicating with CMS on the challenges faced by the general dentist in the Medicaid system.
