Meet Samantha Shaver, DMD, FAGD
Samantha Shaver, DMD, FAGD
Region 6
Samantha Shaver, DMD, FAGD, is the newly appointed Regional Director for Region 6. She is honored to be working with the leadership volunteers in Kentucky, Missouri, Tennessee and West Virginia. She is a 1994 graduate of the University Of Louisville School Of Dentistry and is currently in private practice in Louisville, Kentucky.
Shaver began her dental career in junior high school, working after school and summers in her father’s dental practice. Her father also introduced her to the AGD — he was the first FAGD in the state of Kentucky and a fan of lifelong learning. She joined the AGD in 1992 as a student and was drafted onto the Kentucky AGD Board of Directors shortly after she graduated. Shaver has served ever since, holding all leadership positions. She also has been involved with the ADA, serving on the Communications Council for six years, and with the Kentucky Dental Association, holding multiple positions including vice president. She was the first female president of the Louisville Dental Society.
Shaver was on the AGD’s Legislative & Governmental Affairs Council for six years and on the Dental Practice Council for six years, two years as chair. Her participation at this level exposed her to a wide range of practitioners from across the U.S. and Canada. In today’s fast-paced technology-driven world, she learned that leadership is about the people, not the technology. She encourages all AGD members to participate at whatever level they feel comfortable. As the organization that acts as the voice of the general dentist, AGD offers a great opportunity to become involved in the profession.
