AGD staff exhibited at the ALEC Annual Meeting in Denver, Colorado from July 19-21.  Throughout the meeting, AGD staff made contact with 70 state legislators from around the country and were able to discuss AGD policy priorities with them, such as midlevel providers, dental practice ownership, and access to care.

In Nevada, Governor Brian Sandoval vetoed AB 374, which would have allowed individuals to purchase Medicaid plans at their own cost, regardless of their eligibility for Medicaid.  In his veto letter, Gov. Sandoval cited uncertainty in the reimbursement rates the plan would offer providers and skepticism regarding the plan’s ability to provide coverage for uninsured individuals as reasons for vetoing the legislation, but did state that such a plan should be considered should Nevada’s expanded Medicaid population lose their coverage.

Nevada’s Medicaid plan covers emergency dental examinations and extractions for residents 21 years of age or older.
