The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) Foundation’s Governance Committee seeks nominations for candidates to serve on the 2019 - 2021 Board of Directors.

The 12-member AGD Foundation Board of Directors is the ultimate governing authority of the AGD Foundation. 

A big part of our work involves active engagement on one of our board committees such as Fund Development, Fundraising, Board Development, Grant Committee, or Strategic Planning. The primary day-to-day operations are delegated and overseen by the board of directors and supported by a staff employee.

AGD members are encouraged to recommend individuals to serve on the AGD Foundation Board of Directors.  In order for your recommendations to be considered, please formulate your submissions around the following points: the nominee’s skills, strengths, and how he or she will benefit the AGD Foundation.

Professional qualifications include must be an active member in good standing, a demonstrated effectiveness on AGD or AGD Foundation committees or task forces, leadership experience in another organization (desirable), a solid professional reputation a willingness and ability to make the time commitment required, and a willingness and ability to access resources or open doors on behalf of the AGD Foundation.  Personal qualifications include having honesty and integrity; vision; communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills; the ability to work effectively with a team; self-confidence; and respect for others.

It is imperative that the individual(s) you nominate knows that he or she is being recommended.  The nominee’s acquiescence for service is a prerequisite for your submission.  This will ensure that nominated individuals are not placed in an awkward position of having to decline a nomination.  The board position(s) will be elected at the AGD Foundation Board of Directors meeting, which is held in conjunction with the AGD Scientific Session, July 18 - 20, in Uncasville, CT.
