Marc Worob, DDS, FAGD
Regional Director, Region 18

Dr Worob
Worob has represented the almost 2,900 members of Region 18, which consists of the state of Texas, since November 2018. As regional director, he hopes to improve communications between his region and national AGD as well as help to implement a strategic plan that will position both entities for future success.

Worob also hopes to help grow the membership of both organizations — he believes that further membership growth is necessary for both organizations to succeed. He has held leadership positions in many organizations outside of his dental practice in Austin, Texas. These positions include president of his local Texas AGD component , president of Texas AGD, and president and board member of numerous local community nonprofits, including several in the Austin Jewish community.

According to Worob, the motivation to become a leader rises out of necessity when you want an organization to succeed and feel someone must step up to make it happen. He graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1979 and has been a member of AGD since 1981. For many years, he stayed away from leadership roles in organized dentistry; however, he eventually learned through involvement in other nonprofits that no one else will look out for you if you don’t look out for yourself.

Worob feels that AGD is the only organization helping general dentists succeed. He states that his passion for the colleagues he has met through AGD and the camaraderie of its membership can’t help but make one a better dentist and a better person. To sum up the importance of leadership and of AGD, Worob refers to one of his favorite quotes:
