Connie L. White, DDS, FAGD, installed as Vice President at the Academy of General Dentistry

The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) has installed Connie L. White, DDS, FAGD, as vice president during its Annual Meeting in Chicago held November 3-5. Dr. White, who recently served as the organization’s secretary, has a long history of advocating for patients, and brings a unique passion, leadership and educational focus to this role.

“This position of great magnitude can only be accomplished by true commitment to the Academy, excellent communication skills, deep passion for the organization and a great ability to bring people together,” said Dr. White. “We must examine our Academy and find creative ways to expand our influence as an organization, while bringing increased value to our members.”

Dr. White became a member of AGD when she was in dental school. She received her AGD Fellowship in 1987 and has served as the Missouri AGD’s liaison to the UMKC School of Dentistry and the Missouri AGD’s membership chair and President. She served for six years on the AGD’s Membership Council, three as the chair of the council. She was elected for two terms as AGD regional director and served as chair of the regional directors for two years. White has been an AGD trustee since 2012, has served on both the 2010 and 2015 Strategic Planning task forces, has led the president-appointed Dental Student Task Force for the past two years, and is an avid spokesperson for the AGD. She also has fellowships in the Academy of Dentistry International, American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists and Pierre Fauchard Academy.

Dr. White is currently the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry’s director of patient relations and assistant dean for community relations and communication. She earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 1977 from the UMKC. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1981 from the UMKC School of Dentistry and her Certificate in Oral Medicine in 1989.   After graduation, White became associate professor of dentistry at UMKC and has held many leadership positions there, including team coordinator, chair of the Department of General Dentistry, chair of the dental school faculty, and interim associate dean for clinical programs.

Dr. White has been married to her husband Jerry for 33 years. Together, they have raised three children and they also have two granddaughters.
