Educate Patients on Tooth Erosion

The AGD’s eight-page brochure can be downloaded for free, or you can order it professionally printed and staple-bound on glossy paper. The piece is jam-packed with facts on tooth erosion and information about the credentials, distinctions, and services provided by general dentists.  To download or order additional brochures for your office, please visit the AGD Web site, or contact membership@agd.org.

Lending a Hand

Every day we hear about Americans who can’t afford health care, particularly dental care. Solutions to the problem are not easy, but many dentists have their own solution: Provide free dental care to those who need it. Read about their volunteer efforts in the story “For Goodness Sake” in the May 2008 issue of AGD Impact.

Discount on Implant Workshops

Protecting Patients’ Privacy

Dentists may need to adopt more stringent security plans and actions pertaining to patient privacy if Rep. Edward Markey’s (D-7-Mass.) “Technologies for Restoring Users’ Security and Trust in Health Information Act of 2008” (HR 5442) is adopted. The bill would ensure personal privacy, security, and confidentiality with respect to health-related information. Read about how this bill’s proposals will impact you.

Constituent Leader Tip:  Host a SmileLine

Earn added media attention at your next annual meeting or constituent event by hosting a constituent SmileLine. During the event, volunteer member dentists answer incoming calls from the public about oral health issues ranging from bleaching to orthodontics to proper care of a denture. SmileLine events typically earn constituents a great deal of media attention, so contact the AGD Public Relations Department today to learn more.

Tax Tip: AGD Group Exemption

U.S. constituents and regions can file under the AGD Group Exemption with the IRS in May. AGD group exemption covers a constituent or region under the umbrella of the AGD with respect to the constituent/region’s tax-exempt status. However, this exemption does not eliminate the constituent/region’s need to file a Form 990 or 990-N with the IRS.
